The DDS Rating Guide (Cohen, 1986/1994) provides clearly defined and illustrated criteria that highlight the structure, not the content, of the drawings.
The goal of the SSP is to help clients regulate their nervous system and uses the auditory system as a portal to the vagus complex, which controls our physiological state. With trauma, grief and anxiety the first step can be to provide clients with the SSP to help calm and regulate their nervous system while beginning therapy.

During your first session with The Art and Psychotherapy Studio, your therapist will ask you to create images, colors, words that reflect who you are and interpret them to get to know you better. This is a FUN art directive that everyone loves to do!! It brings a deeper understanding of yourself in our very first session together and gives you the ability to reject on yourself with compassion and understanding at any age! You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the counseling process.
